Out with the old no more
I've done a resonable amount of development in Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Studio.
And I also watch the Dot Net Show on MSDN
so when Microsoft Visual Studio .Net was annouced and all its glory was shown
on the Dot Net show I could not wait to get my hands on it. And finally I found
a copy, which was a beta version but considering you have to have a MSDN subscription
to get those I was pleased indeed.
I installed it, destroying over 1GB of my laptop's precious hard disc space
and opened the new studio up - the truth is, it sucks. Of couse that is just
my opinion and I am sure most developers would disagree. But when they said
it would be so different I thought it was going to be a good different. Now
I feel that, that was a wrong assumption. I still find myself programming away
in Visual Basic 6.0.
What exactly is so great about it? I am usually hanging around on http://www.fallennation.com/forums
if anyone cares to discuss it with me. But the end result is - I don't like
it. |
