It’s a rough world
Binary Binge was a great column from the start. But now the binary bits seem
to be getting ripped of by Inside Magazine and the binge bit is getting taken
by the back age column of the Tokyo Journal. They are stealing all my material.
At least doing something useful though. The thing I really hate is people who
sit on top of domains that don't do anything (yes I'm talking to you Keith Worfolk
owner of Worfolk.com and
Worfolk.net).
But I don't want this article to turn into an attack on the amount of domains
CNet occupy (although I have
recently discovered they own radio.com as well) because they do have some "content"
of you can call the stuff on Help.com that. I don't even mind people who intend
to do things with the domain such as the guy who owns loads of cool domains
including bars.com, cafes.com
and haven.com where you can
find a complete list of the domains he owns. After all, I wouldn't want to give
a domain up if I wanted to use it.
No, the real enemy for domains is the annoying search engines that occupy thousands,
possibly even millions of domains. All they other is paid for links to Overture
and over pay for performance search engines in the hope people will click and
earn them some money. Search links, pop ups and JavaScript code to try and change
your homepage - you people are wasting a fine domain and you must pay.
